Book Review: The Girl Who Played With Fire

By Steig Larsson

This book was an unexpected gem. I had heard of the next book in this series, “The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet’s Nest,” but didn’t realize this was in that series until about halfway through the book.

The Background: Murder mystery filled with undercover reporting, scandal, a sex-trafficking operation, and murders thrown in for good measure.

The Good: Great plotline, and really tough to figure out who was behind everything until the very end. Two great main characters–they were true characters. Each had a great backstory, history, and they intertwined with each other, though they were separate. I also loved that there was tons of interesting backstory throughout the entire book.

The Bad: The book is set in Sweden, and I had a hard time following the characters by name.

Rating: 4 stars. Definitely worth a read if you like murder mysteries!
