Book(s) Review: Kristin Lavransdatter

By Sigrid Undset

Rating: 5 stars.

This book was originally published in the 1920’s as three books.  I’m counting it as one for my 2010 book list, but it took a solid five days of reading.  Over 1150 pages later, I think it was a great story.  I loved that it told Kristin’s entire life story–one of my favorite parts of every book is character development, and the author did a phenomenal job of giving the reader the inside scoop on the main character (and every character, really!).  If you’re looking for historical fiction, or a book set in roughly the middle ages, this is a good bet.  The book was uplifting, heartbreaking, sad, and joyful, and I loved it.
